Emancipation: The fact or process of being set free from legal, social, or political restrictions; liberation.
Proclamation: A public or official announcement, especially one dealing with a matter of great importance.
Slaves: African Americans who were pulled in from Africa and forced to do hard labor while receiving little or no food
Confederacy: States that seceded from the Union
Union: United States (non-Confederate parts)
Slaves states: States that had slavery (Delaware, Kentucky, Missouri, Maryland, and all Confederate states)
Free states: States where slaves had freedom (every state in the Union except Delaware, Kentucky, Missouri, and Maryland)
